Only a Few People Can Find All the Faces Hidden in This Tree – Are You One of Them?

This classic black-and-white optical illusion has been puzzling people for decades! At first glance, it shows a barren tree with branches, but look closer—the branches and shapes cleverly form multiple hidden human faces (and some bird-like ones).

Most people quickly spot the two obvious profiles at the bottom: an elderly man (left, with beard) and woman (right) facing each other, their noses almost touching, with the tree trunk as the space between them.

But that’s just the start! Hidden in the upper branches are several more faces formed by the twisting limbs and negative space.

How Many Can You Find?

Common counts vary, but careful observers typically spot 7 to 10 faces (including birds as “faces”):

  • 2 large profiles at the base (the old couple).
  • At least 4–6 smaller faces in the branches (some upside-down, some in profile, often looking like wise old men or women).
  • 2–3 bird faces perched in the tree (owls or eagles, depending on interpretation).

Some claim up to 10–13 if counting every possible silhouette, but the “official” or most agreed-upon is around 8–10.
